Teaching with Puppetry Across the Curriculum
Karen Konnerth shares insight from over twenty five years of experience as a teaching artist in presentations as conference speaker, or in hands-on workshops for teacher in-service education.
Working in collaboration with classroom teachers, Karen has developed countless lesson plans to successfully motivate learning through the empowering media of puppetry. She shares specific techniques and formats to engage students from Pre-K through grade 6. Through collaborative learning, using inexpensive and easy-to-find materials, she demonstrates methods to motivate as well as assess classroom learning through the rich and mesmerizing art form of puppetry.
Karen was awarded in 2011 by Puppeteers of America the Marjorie Batcheldor McPherson Award for Excellence in Arts in Education. She has presented workshops for teachers at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., as well as for the U.S. Embassy in Costa Rica, Indonesia, and Brunei.
